Uberated crowned winners of the Retail Week Buzz 24 hour Hackathon challenge to drive online shoppers to store locations and create a truly seamless customer experience.
What a difference a day makes. At 1pm on Wednesday, as the prestigious Retail Week Hackathon kicked off, the Uberated team were full of energy and excited to get cracking. The challenge: “How can retailers use technology to drive online shoppers into store locations and create a truly seamless customer experience in the process”.
24 hours later, having worked through the night without sleep, the team pitched their “VIP Experience” to a judging panel that included esteemed retailers from House of Fraser, Marks & Spencer, Schuh, New Look, Missguided, Sainsburys, Belstaff and Tesco.
The solution works out which online shoppers would be more likely to purchase from a store, rather than online (based on the products they are viewing and their on-site behaviour), and then offers them a personalised, VIP experience in their local store.
And the judges loved it. Not only awarding Uberated the win with the highest ever score in a Retail Week Hackathon, but full marks in every category.
The panel said: “it’s accessible, elegant and easy to deploy with broad appeal to retailers” – while praising the solution for encouraging upsell and driving customers into stores.

“To come up with an idea from scratch, build it in 24 hours, and impress such a great panel of judges is a huge validation of the team we have, and our capability to deliver” stated Uberated Founder Luke Peake.
Exhausting and exhilarating, it was a great experience and we loved every minute (even the ones in the early hours of the morning!). We’re incredibly proud of the team and what they were able to achieve. Keep an eye out for more updates about our “VIP Experience” solution, and our other plans for supporting stores. What a day!
